Pigs N’ Heat Zamboni upfit

FRES recently had the opportunity to support the annual Pigs N Heat hockey event at Michigan Technological University by completing a custom emergency-style lighting upfit on the arena Zamboni. The installation work was completed on January 29th, 2026 and included integrating a Michigan State Trooper-style cherry topper light along with custom goal lights that were generously donated by SoundOff Signal.

Projects like this highlight the versatility of emergency vehicle technology outside of traditional patrol and response vehicles. While the Zamboni is not a conventional emergency platform, the installation still required careful planning around power distribution, mounting, wiring protection, and operational safety within the arena environment. Our team worked to ensure the lighting systems were cleanly integrated while maintaining a professional appearance and reliable functionality.

Community-centered projects like the Pigs N Heat event are something we truly enjoy being part of. They create an opportunity to combine public engagement, local partnerships, and emergency service culture into a unique experience for attendees while also showcasing what modern vehicle upfitting technology can accomplish in nontraditional applications.

FRES would also like to thank SoundOff Signal for donating the lighting equipment used in the project and helping make the build possible. We look forward to continuing to support community events, specialty vehicle projects, and public safety organizations throughout the region.
