FRES recently completed the emergency equipment upfit of two Michigan Department of Natural Resources snowmobiles operating in the Keweenaw region as part of ongoing public safety support efforts in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The project involved integrating siren systems and warning equipment onto the snowmobiles while ensuring the installations remained reliable in extreme winter operating conditions.
Snowmobile upfitting presents a unique set of technical challenges compared to traditional patrol vehicles. Limited mounting space, constant vibration, snow exposure, moisture intrusion, and cold-weather electrical reliability all play a major role in system design and installation. Our goal throughout the project was to create clean, durable installations capable of handling the demanding environments these units operate in during winter patrol and response operations.
In addition to the completed snowmobile builds, FRES is proud to announce that we have secured a five-year contract with the Keweenaw-area Michigan Department of Natural Resources for continued fleet upfitting support. This contract marks a significant milestone for our company and reflects the trust being placed in our team to support mission-critical public safety equipment.
From specialty seasonal units to full fleet vehicle integrations, FRES remains focused on building dependable emergency systems that help agencies operate safely and effectively in the field. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue supporting DNR operations and look forward to future projects as the partnership continues to grow.
